Practical 3 - Joinery 1

For Practical 3 Session, you will be introduced to the different ways of joining cardboard. You will also have the opportunity to create many of these joints and created a visual board. Document your learning from the hands-on practical session as a group in a new blog page titled "Practical 3". You are also to complete the following little assignment individually but document collectively in the Practical 3 Blog page.

The Little Assignment
For this assignment, you are to assemble the winged unicorn. This Winged Unicorn is created by Mr Bartholomew Ting, a graduate from NUS Business School. Bartholomew landed in management position of a MNC & soon gravitated to creative arts. He designed exhibition booths for years and finally realising his true passion as a cardboard sculptor.

The instruction on the assembly is available by clicking on the link here

This is what you are to do:

1. While assembling, pay special attention to the type of folds and joints that are used. Record your observation.

2. For the blog entry, document the assembling process, includes at least 3 photographs.

3. Find a way (using rubber bands, springs etc.) to allow the wings to return to its starting position as shown in the video. Document clearly the mechanism you have used.

4. Sketch the mechanism that you will put in to automate the wing flapping. An example is shown below.
